My greatest mistake was giving this band a chance

Still jamming this quite a bit. "Mourning Song" is quickly becoming another one of my favorites. The second half really hits hard. These guys know how to write a long, sad song.

I’m not sure how I rate this really. The singer is a great singer with a really good range and solid aggressive vocals too. The songs are well crafted to suit the vocals and sad but often a bit cringe lyrics. The string arrangements are nice but there isn’t a hint of a riff or guitar lead anywhere which I think could really drive some of these songs on to bigger heights.

He definitely needs to chill with the relationship songs, but I think he's solid when he branches out a bit.

I find myself returning to this quite often. Great album.

Been really feeling Beyond Belief lately...song is so bomb

Yeah I've been listening to it quite a bit myself. It grew on me a lot and has ended up having way more staying power than I expected.

I'm glad to hear it's growing on people. I'm going to disagree about the lyrics. I think they're thoughtful and well-written. Maybe they're a little melodramatic at times, but I prefer music to be overly emotional.

Excellent review, very well thought out and written, even if I don't share your enthusiasm for the album

Sadly, save for In Circles & Beyond Belief which were quite good, this just really isn't my thing. It's alright, but this style of music tends to not really do a lot for me. This band & album are no exception unfortunately.

Agree with the singer trying a bit too hard at times.

Been spinning some of this today and can’t help but think about how engaging the melodies are here. They do a good job hooking the listener even if their isn’t a whole lot going on instrumentally. The melodic songwriting is definitely the strong point here for me

Thanks, hang. I appreciate it. These guys were my third most played this year on Spotify unsurprisingly - only behind Devil Sold His Soul and Deafheaven. There's part of me that's really surprised these guys haven't broken out yet and achieved mainstream success. Maybe the next album will get them there?

Very good review. I disagree with the hidden track thing but whatever. These guys have set the bar VERY high with this album, I hope they can keep it up.
