i looked it up and i was right, there was controversy iirc because the singer of the band he formed, we are the fallen, sounds like a amy lee tribute singer lol, not that it matters tbh :0
honest question though, what other bands sound like evanescence or could be evanescence copycats? i mean like legit, not just gothic + metal like within temptation, nightwish etc. i don't think i know that many bands that truly sound like evanescence and i would like to check em out :0

Flyleaf is probably one of the most well known, and you could argue that Red's first album had some Evanescence influence.
|
| |
i feel like flyleaf lacks the theatricality that evanescence displays, like it's more straightforward and not as cheesy/nu-metal-ish, but i do get the comparison very much :0
which one is Red tho? don't remember that band :0

Broken Pieces Shine felt like it went on for about 6 minutes, not 3:50. Yeah Right is absolutely horrendous.
This is a not a good listen so far, everything sounds muffled and muddy.
|
| |
Yeah the mix is atrocious and the tracks aren't much better. I like a few of them but this is definitely not a strong release.

>A lot of the groups that more or less inspired Evanescence: Within Temptation, Lacuna Coil, Linkin Park, etc.
Evanescence wasn't inspired by Linkin Park at all, but they shared fanbase. The rapping in BMTL was forced by label. They even wanted to get Mike Shinoda for that, but had to bring in a random nobody. None of the original BMTL demos have any rapping or Linkin Park adjascent sound

Having said that, I'm not surprised that the album is bad since (as someone else mentioned), Evanescence's only good music was written with Moody. He got kicked out of the band in the middle of a tour, but deserved it as he was abusive to Amy. Still shame that things ended up that way.

album got some decent slappers

production on this is pretty unenjoyable, drums way in the front with tons of noise and reverb, vocals also extremely punchy, feels like the peak a lot somehow, not great.
this is extremely noticeable on Yeah Right
