Indeed. That is why I have given up on Half Life and Tool. Fuck this "we want it to be just right" shit. Perfectionism becomes useless once you head into "we haven't written a complete song in five years" territory.

To be honest I kinda wish more bands would have the presence of mind to say, "this new stuff really isn't stacking up against our best work, so let's just sit on it til we feel more inspired".

Especially Mastodon.

Of course its also refreshing to know that these ppl are only human, and are capable of stunnring errors in judgement and ridiculous acts of arrogance.

as soon as they stop trying to actually sing and go back to grunting we'll all be better off

XD I know the singing live leaves much to be desired, but the studio versions of some tracks didn't offend my ears.

I always forget how good this album is because as people the band are so annoying, but if this isn't one of the best albums I've ever heard my goodness

This is a little better than Aenima for me, but I can understand why someone would like that album
more.

Aenima and Lateralus are really close for best Tool album, but I might have to say Lateralus simply because there's too many annoying transition songs, and not every song is amazing like on Lateralus

I think this just has more memorable moments than Aenima, which is what makes it better for me.

Yeah they don't stuff this full of annoying transition songs like on Aenima and 10,000 Days, it's overall better constructed (as an album), all the albums have lots of memorable moments but this is just slightly better. Really curious to hear what they do next
