Love this album. Best since Sci-fi Crimes for me.

Just finished it: It's ambitious; I need multiple listens to properly rate it. Still trying to process...I'm a little disappointed, but it might grow on me. Will say "Endlessly" is the best thing on this for me. Vocals are all sorts of melancholy and romantic. Just emotionally resonant in a way that I've never heard from them before.

"do rock stations still play chevelle? or are they still in faux indie mumford and sons mode? i honestly have no idea what rock radio stations play anymore lmao"

Yep, Chevelle sees consistent airplay on active rock radio, and some alternative stations as well. I'll listen to my local station from time to time, and they are played quite a bit. It's the older singles like "Send the Pain Below", "The Red", and "Vitamin R" that receive most attention, but whenever a new album cycle begins, you'll hear the new singles in the station's song rotation. The first single from every album release since Hats off to the Bull has charted at #1 on Billboard's mainstream rock chart. "Self Destructor" appears to be on track to do the same.

I enjoy the songwriting but this is album was poorly mixed. I got worried when I heard the singles and I think everything is off production-wise

the mix alternates between amazing and terrible, it gets a bit muddy in the louder moments but is really nice on songs like Endlessly

"I definitely think a new producer would be beneficial for them"

I agree. I feel like Chevelle has all the goods to put out something quite stunning, and I think that nudge to push them to that next level could very likely come from a new producer and a focus on finding a more ambitious audio engineer. The mix on this album feels flat and I'm especially disappointed in the drum sound.

Maybe I'm just primed to think so, but I could see Verruckt as the background music to a Nazi Zombies trailer.

You do realized that most of them DON'T have a 3.8 rating right
