"A little too much interlude stuff for my liking but it's not a big problem"
this. the last quarter of the album just fades into oblivion lol

So far what I wish is that "Sleep the Deep" led into "Self Destructor" more.

someone in the shoutouts said that this might be their shortest album
the reality is that this is actually their longest album to date lmao

Yeah, a quick check looks like that honor belongs to "Hats Off to the Bull"

Did the consistently long fade outs on the bulk of the tracks bother anyone but me?
This is good, but nothing gripped me really

After first listen, "Mars Simula", "Endlessly", "Remember When", and "Lost in Digital Woods" are awesome.

I just heard "Endlessly" from YouTube prompt. Liked it a bunch. Not that I'm a huge Chevelle guy, but I'm hard pressed to remember them doing a atmospheric ballad quite like it. "Peach" has been my favorite of the singles, so I'll definitely give this a listen. Just yesterday, I started deep diving their entire discography starting with Point One. I'm in the middle of Vena Sera right now, which is better than I remember.

Damn, this is pretty solid. Would 3.5 on the spot if "Ghost and Razor" didn't exist and the closer had something more to it, but I'm down to spend more time with it. Nice stuff.

I agree. It should "end" with "Remember When" and then do a little more with the outro.

Last time I can remember was "Sci-fi Crimes," hence why I love that album so much.

Chevelle is as Chevelle does

this is a solid album for sure... between 3.5/4 sounds about right but it may grow

I find irritating that people like Fantano still compares the band with Tool like GET OVER IT DUDE, WE ALREADY KNOW THAT PETE SOUNDS LIKE MAYNARD, CAN U STOP MAKING THE COMPARISON? GODAMMIT

singles made me think this was gonna be some next level shit
twas okay. it was a stupid listen with all the interludes. most of the actual tracks ranged from real good to great though. loved Self Destructor, Endlessly, and Remember When

" but I'm hard pressed to remember them doing a atmospheric ballad quite like it."
Parts of Envy got there but yeah I love how textured and dynamic it feels for a band that often gets stuck on the same texture palate
I think this is their best in a long time

Is that a Boris Vallejo cover? WTF?

^^^ Yes
Are we listening to the same album? This is easily their best effort to date with the exception of TTOT. Verruckt is not the first time they opened an album with an intro; they did this way back on Point #1. Everything here is well thought out, Lost in Digital Woods is a perfect outro and borrows the same sonic sound you hear on Test Test, Enough which is nice little attention to detail... it feels connected. Pete's voice has ascended even more, and also really cool they brought in Brian Kilgore for Endlessly.
Y'all can be obsessed with the 3.8 score, but this deserves praise next to the generic drivel that Chevelle is mixed in on the charts... Five Finger Death Punch and Papa Roach.

I would agree that Chevelle are one of the best bands on the radio now. That being said, I don't think that praise warrants automatically giving it a super high score. It still needs to be strong by its own merit, and needs to be able to stand as an individual statement. So if you like it because as a whole it stands up, great. But comparing it to Papa Roach and using that as a reason to rate it higher is like comparing Budweiser to Odell's. Not even close baby.

I'm torn on this. Clearly feels like it was meant to be their magnum opus but I still feel like it's missing something.
