They come off a little douchey in that interview lol. I also don't know what the following quotes are all about.



"Where I wanna head with this is something much bigger," Owen said. "There's not a lot of upwards mobility with what we were doing. We had this great sound, but now it's time for the next stage. If you don't evolve, no one's gonna wanna keep up with you."



"I literally like wrote a whole Shin Guard album, and for the most part we scrapped a lot of it," Owen continued. "I think one of the worst things you can do as a band -- unless, like, you're big -- is just keep putting out albums. 'Cause what's gonna happen is you're gonna have all these tunes and you're not gonna be big enough to give them the attention they deserve."



That being said, this EP isn't terrible. I can hear some fun ideas but they don't really go anywhere and the cymbal break and shit they did like that did not work for me at all. Too much random shit that kills momentum and flow of the song. Sounding like Code Orange in places lmao. The first half of Ungodly is dope and then the rest of it is shit. Hopefully they can improve their songwriting cuz they're talented enough to put out good shit with this sound.

I just peeped this and it was a ton of fun. And I’m not a deathcore fan really at all. I guess I don’t get how people think this is generic dxc - sounds nothing like it to me, way more variety here.

Not necessarily a 1.5 on its own...but the disappointment of the death of Shin Guard turns this band into a slap in the face. I may sound salty over this because I am and I'm sure plenty of other people are since this is just objectively worse songwriting. Booooooring.

i mean, i am disappointed they decided to get salty about a review that has about as much weight and influence as a livejournal blog circa 2005, but as the review indicates, i do still respect them, and i wish them the best. i hope they do well on the Daoboys tour, i hope they find enthusiastic fans, i hope whatever they put out next is well received, and i hope they learn to be gracious about any negative reactions they do get

They're absolutely entitled to pursue whatever route they'd like to, but I definitely don't see any more appeal in their work. Good luck to them.
