I hear you on the having to finish once you start, I'm that way with movies and it used to be a problem because I had a habit of putting on the worst of the worst movie wise lol. The rushed nature you're talking about I think I took more as spontaneity. Need to go back and try one of their full lengths and see if maybe my opinion on their earlier stuff has changed

> In this day and age, there's no excuse for a terribly mixed album. Also, it's boring as f**k.
re: undergang, i mean when you drop hot takes like this, you kind of are inviting yourself for criticism

i rly don't know what's so bad about this. it's short and punchy, def a fun time

This might be my favorite thing these guys have ever done. The first 7 tracks are like a more badass mammoth grinder with chainsaw hm2 tone

i'm mostly indifferent to the deathgrind bits here but that closer is seriously very good

ShadowRemains, that album's mix was terrible. I get that they were probably trying to go for a raw old-school vibe, but it ended up sounding more like: "Recorded using karaoke mics straight into a podcast recorder." Even putting that aside, I can still manage through a terrible mix (ex. my 3.0 rating on Bloodsoaked Necrovoid's - Expelled into the Unknown Depths...). Undergang had nothing going for it. No sick riffs, drum fills or bass lines. It's a lumbering log of noise. And, that's my opinion of it. You don't have to agree with it. You can rate it whatever you like. Why should I get criticized for having my own opinion?

I recorded my first "album" with a Guitar Hero: World Tour USB mic and I can assure you the mix is not that level of bad. I would post proof but luckily it is long gone never to see the light of day. Those soaring leads that fly out of the muck on that Undergang album are what mainly make it stand out for me though. Also think that guitar tone is strong enough that I'd stankface to just about any note they could pluck.
And damn I need to revisit Mammoth Grinder too now

Their last two are the ones I know best. Solid stuff, nothing mind-blowing, but solid nonetheless.

Nice write up, album rules albeit short. The last song, emptiness, leaves me craving more. Such a great song.

With everything that's going on I wouldn't be surprised if more bands bet on this format in order to drop music more regularly.

@yellowvoid, if you think that production was "bad", you should listen to convulse's evil prevails, now that is a truly flawed attempt at old school production
there's nothing wrong about the mix with the new undergang record

I wouldn’t mind seeing YellowVoids counter review to this. I agree diff opinions are healthy and what not but at the same time I’m at clear odds with the perspective. Wouldn’t mind seeing them fleshed out as such

Another solid release from these guys. Ill never understand the inflated 3.5's-4.0s

I love the attitude this thing gives off and the super brief runtime works in it's favor big time imo. Maybe I'm a little generous in my rating because I had such low expectations going in considering I thought their first album was a snooze fest. I revisited the first yesterday thinking maybe I just checked it out on the wrong day but I still felt the same really. This just has a punch to it that really hits the spot for me
