Do you like any death metal band Gyro? Anything from the 90s maybe? Sounds like you just don't dig the genre at all.

I dig death metal for sure, I just don't get why so many bands sound so homogeneous. Usually you get like a cool ambient intro to the album and then the other 95% og the album basically has the exact same sound throughout.

> back when i was in college i was living with some guys in a rather well known death metal band, and their first few records were definitely going for that swedish death sound, so they had a couple of hm-2's and they were honestly the most hilarious guitar pedals ive ever come across. they literally only worked if you turned every knob up to 100% and honestly still sounded like shit for leads.
the band was horrendous for those who are wondering

4.5 - wow!
4 - sick
3.5 - hell yea

Yeah tbh this genre has always left me a bit perplexed. I do enjoy some dm albums (some of them very much), but overall I've never heard a more stagnant subgenre. So much of what I hear sounds practically indistinguishable from other bands in the genre and this is no different to me. I was listening to another dm rec I got about a month ago and the singers sounded slightly different, otherwise musically I can't tell them apart in the slightest.
I should just stick to black metal. There's always so much variety and experimentation compared to dm which is almost always very one note. Maybe the genre will just click with me one of these days
