I've been wanting a full album with Mel on vocals since Synesthesia Signal so I'm pretty happy with this one. I understand fans of the old stuff craving some harsh vocals though, and I'm pretty sure future releases will have them.

New album next January 1st lmao. Honestly it's a bit of a meme to me at this point they release an album at the start of every year, but I ain't complaining. Honestly, I don't know what I want from a new album. My favorite album is Embers Turn to Dust tbh so more like that would suffice I guess, for me.

K jamming it now, there seems to be little differences with this one, more focus on twin vocals instead of just Mel, some cool spacey tracks, etc but pretty much in line with Siege.

That besides the last two tracks which are easily the two best, although it still just sounds like same old Mechina. Atleast those female growls on the last track is something different (I know she was on Seige too). Mechina and resting on their laurels, name a better duo.

I gave it a 2.5 initially... took me quite some time to get into the new style. The second half is still SHIT but everything up to s/t track is actually very good.
I consider Venator an improvement over this, more solid songwriting, I liked everything except the s/t, more dynamic variety, more synths which are very well balanced with the sympho parts, more of engaging vocal lines. Despite everyone praising the track with return of Dave's growls I think they don't quite fit the new vibe and I'm alright the overall direction the band took. Hope for more stuff like Virtue Meets Steel and Praise Hydrus in the future.

I'm digging the new one but my standards for this band are usually pretty low, so I always get a good kick of everything they do. Venator definitely seems to expand on this and there are significant improvements, gonna try to rev it tomorrow.
