@Johnny: I have jammed ‘Re:Red’ and it was aggressively decent, which although appreciated wasn’t really what I was hoping for.
I will check this today, there’s still a whole 6 days till I absolutely need to submit my end of year list. Tight window but I’m holding out hope.

No, there's 6 days until it becomes ethical to submit your end of the year list

and even then it's only ethical if it meets some p strict criteria
and while re:red as a whole is ok, the peaks were defs high enough to warrant more than unhype for this

I miss some good old post-rock.

25 minutes in, this is the stuff! I forgive Kashiwa Daisuke for all his disappointments and crappy soundtracks. He's back to form.
This has the soul of Polish music. I can hear Penderecki's sorrowful strings and Jacaszek's tragic vocal samples here. Also, in its darkest moments it vividly sends my mind to imagery from Zdzislaw Beksinski and Andrzej Zulawski's art. (Speaking about Zulawski, Possession 1981 is one the greatest movies ever, I recommend watching it if you like this album's vibe and David Lynch, John Cassavetes and early Roman Polanski)

Oh wow, this is nowhere near as potentially obnoxious as the ‘review’ makes it sound. It does get a tad wild towards the end, but most of this is pretty darn cohesive. Nice.

Quit bashing this highly intellectual reviewing style. Nerd

Lol. I can forgive the collective misdemeanour based on the assumption that the style was necessary due to time constraints. Getting this review out in time for the end of year lists (in theory) meant sacrifices needed to be made.

It's hard work revolutionizing the reviewing business but someone gotta do it

So this is actually fantastic then, but I bet it gets completely forgotten about due to the shoddy timing.

Honestly would see people drooling over the first 10 min of this or so and then be completely turned off by the rapid shift of genres.
Or perhaps the other way around.

Still it takes absolute talent to make a 51 minute tracks this varied and entertaining the entire way through (though I will concede some bias as Stella is one of my fav songs of all time). Was not impressed at all with II or some of his other works but this makes me want to give them a 2nd try
