purity ring remix is by far the best, they're really damn good at making their songs have that same melancholy that Deftones' songs often do

phantogram's is good but the reverb on the vocals is absolutely godawful and the production is just really amateur in general

mike shinoda's is kinda fun

dj shadow's is overhated, it's not bad but it doesn't really capitalize on the song well

it's kind of hilarious how clams casino-fied feiticeira is

the rest are generally pretty eh. i don't know what blanck mass was trying to do with elite

sounds like BM wanted Elite to sound like a boss battle with black metalish vocals

The reaction to this thing from the Deftones fanbase has been hilariously bad.

No shitty 8-track demos, no bootleg straight-from-soundboard live performances... the band dropped basically an entire album of new material we'd never heard before While I don't like probably half the remixes on here, I have a lot of respect for them not taking the easy way out and not giving us bullshit that's already been available on youtube for years (a la 95% of the bands who drop these kinds of anniversary albums).

I've seen a ton of Deftones fans say they would've rather gotten nothing at all than this "desecration of the album's legacy" or whatever. Bitches woulda still complained had they not done anything for the album's 20th.

Good job with the review, man. I wasn't planning on jamming this but I'll give it a shot.

I thought Mike killed it on Passenger. Teenager and Knife Prty worked out well too... The rest??? oh heck no... The remixes make Korea, Change, and Feliciteria are barely recognizable and are absolutely grating, and Pink Maggit, while having high points, had these ear-piercingly disruptive glitched electronics that are way too loud in the mix and made the listen very unenjoyable. Such a not only disappointing, but poor way to celebrate the album's 20th birthday.
