"As long as she's been around, I wish she would just get singing lessons, but she rides on the gimmick I guess."
lol p sure that's just her voice, dude. i guess so much of what she's always been about is gutsy and kinda raw in subject matter and delivery, so her voice is an admittedly steep entry barrier, but also a pretty critical part of who she is as an artist. it's a weird one, because while her singing is a big part of why she will probs never be big out of japan, I don't think she would have had nearly as much of a mark there if she was just another of Ghost's pretty voices on the radio

"his reviewer name pun is fucking terrible"
it's not a pun lol, it's just a really stupid name, and being almost a pun is part of that ig. was worth it just for this

Johnny please don't be attracted to bipolar crazies like Seiko Oomori when trad wives are waiting in line at your doorstep, you know, pure girls like me and Ichiko Aoba!!

Nah, there's more to it than that. If she talks normally, her voice isn't going to grate on you. You know she makes a lot of weird noises and sounds with her voice when she's performing. I think she forces it too much sometimes. This is what I'm referring to, mostly.

this so hard. if widespread popularity means fitting into a milquetoast profile and extinguishing your essential identity, no matter how unorthodox and unpalatable it may seem to many, then whats the point? seiko's music is great because it's who she is.

Hugh does indeed have a bias against Western artists.
That much is certain lol

"seiko's music is great because it's who she is."
It's also why my interest in her continues to wane as she puts out more and more albums. I wanted to like this a lot more than I do, but it never hits me in a way that her debut album, Pink or Sennou ever did. Muteki as well, to some extent. This lacked some oomph that I wanted it to have. While consistent, I feel it's missing something more passionate.

this is real fuckin great. i've heard a few singles from her here and there, but this is my first time diving into one of her albums. if the ratings here are anything to go by, i've got quite a lot of catching up to do.

All of her stuff is gold. This has settled as her second best to me, just behind Sennou (or the one with a picture of a brain above her head lol)

I feel as a starting point, a 4 would be perfectly valid. This does have plenty of upward potential though.
