"the harpooneer sounds like a bolt thrower song"
I believe you’re talking about the doom-ish beginning right? It reminds me more of Candlemass than the English lads, to be honest.

no the riff specifically reminds me of bolt thrower
think it shows up at 2:12 first in the song

Haa the slow-paced chorus riff. You're right, it reminds of Bolt Thrower.

Could they still be considered a blast from the past if the haven’t stopped making music since the 80’s

Feel pretty average to me, couldnt really imagine spinning this opposed to m16/agent orange/persecution. Not bad tho, solid thrash

i think m-16, better off dead, tapping the vein, code red, all solid listens but 84-87 is the peak

"We wanted to capture the vibes and the feeling of the '80s, and that's why we recorded it this way but with modern technology. Nowadays you have more options to do things, but we wanted to mix over an analog desk - one of those huge fucking analog desks - and that's what we did. I guess the sound is warmer than most of the productions nowadays."
~Blackfire
No fucking wonder this sounds so authentic
