Sorry dude, you know I love these guys. But at this point, I respect what they're doing much more than I enjoy the music they're putting out.

Yeah, you never know!
Have to admit that it bugs me that my only AC/DC review is this one because of the rating.

Oh I'm digging the warmer nature of Through the Mists of Time, it even has a cute rhythm in places. Four songs in it seems the backing vocals are used nicely in this record

Titan: I’ve been a lurker for years and respect that website like no other. I use it for newer bands and just an overall guide before I get into an album. I’m an AC/DC aficionado and that’s why you are seeing me now. I know this site can be pretentious to prog metal etc. and I have no problem with that. The Rush reviews on here are incredible for example. I just don’t want to see AC/DC get ripped for doing what they do. They have a classic timeless formula that nobody else can play properly. I get it, it’s AC/DC, but people that don’t get it can move on to other bands. Nice to meet you sir.

My favorite album is Powerage btw.

I've now listened to all the songs (out of order) and yeah..tonnes of filler also loads of recycled licks and riffs. Definitely strong Ballbreaker/Stiff Upper Lip vibes, with bits of Flick of the Switch, Black Ice and Who Made Who. Don't hear the Blow Up Your Video influence myself, though.
Still better than Bust, though. A few genuinely great tracks on there. Particularly liked Shot in the Dark, Witch's Spell and No Mans Land. Particularly unimpressed with Wild Reputation and Systems Down.
Again, though, this is after one listen. My mind may change once I listen to it more.

It warms my heart to see AC/DC release an album that people genuinely seem to be okay with.

people criticize AC/DC because they always sound the same, but doesn't Maiden technically do the same?
I suppose I'm part of the problem as well since I love Maiden and just happen to like AC/DC

Shoedog if you bump a Rush thread you'll likely summon Titan in it

This isn't too bad but it's not good either. I will probably never listen to it again. The only thing memorable about this is the AC/DC signature bass drive. Also, Brians vox are terrible.

>people criticize AC/DC because they always sound the same, but doesn't Maiden technically do the same?
uhhhh theres a pretty clear sense of progression in maidens sound from punky thin lizzy in the beginning to more melodies, more ambitious songwriting, eventually less heavy and a bit more proggy towards the end of the 80s
nevermind that their sound in general is more complex and dynamic
not saying maiden deserves super 5/5 status like many give them but yea i dont think its comparable at all
