Heard it once, on YT. Some cool moments, but I have a thing with Fates in general, so I won't be rushing my rating

For all the talk about streamlining I'm finding this more interesting than Theories. Reading the review while listening to The Way Home was a bit of a head-scratching moment to be honest

One hell of a jam on the front half of The Longest Shadow

Why are they ripping off the Animals as Leaders self-titled art? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animals_as_Leaders_(album)

Similar pallet, far from a ripoff

Yea one is an abstract background with the band logo and the other is a landscape, not really the same thing lol

I just want to say I'm glad the other Fates fans on this site are really enjoying this. It's not like I'm not. A 3.5 is 'great', and I do think it's a great release. For me, though, there's usually an emotional element attached to their albums that comes from an over-arching theme or atmosphere. This doesn't have that. I really like it, but I'm lacking the connection.

I think this is one of their weakest, if not the weakest album they released, but it is still a good listen.

I thoroughly enjoy what a riff monster Jim has become. I'm still digesting and my rating is first impressions (no pun intended). Shuttered World is crushing as far as FW goes.

Not sure how I'd rate this yet. On one hand, I think it has some of the best songs of the band's career. On the other hand, it also has a lot of filler. Nothing is bad (I don't think Jim is capable of writing a "bad" song) and I think the great songs make the album's existence completely worth it. However, as a full album, I'm not sure it will get a lot of cover-to-cover listens. I will say, I love that they brought back some of the electronics and moodiness from the APSOG-FWX era. It works really well with their 2010s metal sound. Any Fates Warning fan should listen to "The Destination Onward" and "The Longest Shadow."

This album is so sweet! But with the last song literally titled "The Last Song", I have my worries :/

As I continue to absorb this, the album's title is definitely significant to the listening experience

I'm really enjoying it

I'm trying (key word) to take it slow with the album because I don't want it to start wearing off quickly, but I've been enjoying this more than I expected to. I like how the band just sounds like they had fun with this album. It's almost like a one stop shop for the Fates sound. Longest Shadow is a beast

Come on sput heathens, get on this album. Time to get it trending

Only on track 1, which is eight mins. Gonna need to dedicate some time to this but it's good listen so far.

Gotta get into the other albums first. I tried Awaken the Guardian but I didn't like the vocals there. No Exit was much easier to listen to.

Really enjoyed it at my first two listens, but I also feel that some songs could've been left off. A 70+ minute runtime is rarely justified and my attention does vane by the end of it. Ironically Longest Shadow goes hard.
