Garganjua wrote the best Pallbearer song of 2020: Controlling Waves.

Great review. I vaguely remember listening to Heartless a couple of years ago and must have thought it was good enough for my attention to be grabbed when this album popped up on my horizon.
Only halfway through the album so far but I thought more would have been made of the production. It's very muddy and flat, which is detracting from things a bit. Riverbed was nice with some Gregor Macintosh-esque vibes going on (same can be said of Silver Wings) but Forgotten Days and Stasis aren't really up to much.

Personally it's definitely a big drawback to this album, although with improvements to the production I don't think this gets past a 3 at most anyway.

Has this band been basically shelved by their label, or what? They were riding a pretty fat wave between Heartless and to the release of this latest album. The singer said in an interview shortly after this album dropped that they had the material to possibly make another album and turn this one into a double album of sorts. Now it seems like mostly radio silence from Pallbearer. The occasional shows and posts on social media, but they’re just not very busy it seems. I hope they’re not going to slowly just disappear and find other projects to get involved with. One of my favorite bands!

The bassist shared an Instagram story of his girlfriend’s story that showed a picture of her leg full of goosebumps and the caption said “my review of the new pallbearer record.” Got me fired up as hell. Hoping that news fires others up too. Lol

Two new songs live at this link. Sound quality is pretty decent. First one is at 25:15 and second is at 57:00.

I listen to foundations of burden and then listen to this one and I’m just like FUCK. Definitely took a nose dive in overall quality. The new songs I’ve heard on live footage sound in the same vein as forgotten days which I find to be a bummer. Just gotta accept this band will never be a Foundations/Heartless version of themselves again. Will still always jock the hell out of this band and whatever they do though.

I honestly love the natural almost "airy" feel of the production. I see that is a big drawback for people but I absolutely love the atmosphere it creates here. Got stoned and relaxed while jamming this and it was fucking magical.
