Why did they name themselves after a Norwegian island anyway?

I feel like this album was the tipping point for metal to become more of a favorite genre for me again. Never thought it would happen again in my life.

Vi Som Alaskade are awesome yeah. I’d be happy if this got anywhere near the level of their latest release.

I was honestly turned off by the title, thinking this was going to be more glorifying depression than fighting it, and I was pleasantly surprised

This is very much about respecting issues and advocating for them. They're a very outspoken band in that regard, hence the on-the-nose lyricism. It's very effective in transmitting that message.

are the lyrics like the sjw rant the last album was or they not cringy as hell this time?

I don't think they come across as annoying as they may possibly seem. At the same time, they probably don't mind either way so long as the message comes across.

The harsh vocals kinda remind me of Mike Hiranica of TDWP in a not great way. And the cleans are a bit breathy for me. The synths/leads are still pretty damn cheesy. Like power metal or something. Still figuring out how to listen to this, though.

I don't think they're that cheesy and fit neatly into the background. Even then, they're not used very often and the guitars are the main attraction for the melodies.

Didn't really notice a whole lot of synths at all to be honest.
