So I actually think the singles are the stronger cuts here, the album as a whole is nauseatingly self indulgent. Adz remains his best

I got halfway through this and had to tend to other matters, but I liked what I heard. I came in with pretty low expectations based on his post-C&L output, but this was a pleasant surprise. It sounded like a more grounded Adz, and my main issue with that album is how it had almost no restraint; it was haphazard and unenjoyable minus Impossible Soul and a few other cuts. If anything that album was crazy overindulgent and this is a more refined version where the more "out there" moments actually feel earned. I dunno though maybe the entire second half of this is the audio equivalent of swamp ass so I won't go dying on any hills defending this...yet.

That album art looks like it was taken from Caribou's album Swim and i think i'd rather listen to that than this

@sowing - your taste and mine don’t converge too often so take my opinions with a grain of salt, you very well might love it

Why does every electronic album get compared to Everything Now when Sufjan has been making electronic albums since 2004

Sputnik has been quite unreasonable to this record thus fas. You can call this record many things, and it's certainly flawed. I haven't made up my mind about it. But one thing that I think is clearly evident is that whatever this record is, it definitely isn't average.

"This is like Danse Manatee, Everything Now, and King of Limbs had a threesome."

Also, it sounds literally nothing like this.

You fuckers are all going to make me want to write a review again.

It's definitely not his strongest album, but still very good so yeah I don't understand how people can hate this. Everything Now was a fucking mess, this is pretty consistent.

go for it

though i still have the flag, mwyeah : ] ~

"it definitely isn't average"

imo that's a flaw with the innate sput rating system. for me a 2.5 is simply a gauge of how enjoyable i consider it, not that it is literally on par with every random bandcamp release (most of which i'd rate a 1-1.5)

And that's as it should be. Nothing wrong with the 2.5 if you only moderately enjoyed it and the review is still strong.
