Haha I suppose I had to experience it at that time then! I wasn’t even listening to music during Covid, I took like a 2 year break from listening to anything for some reason

Big Climb is an underrated jam

my listening habits were strange over Covid but yeah, it'll take more than a plague to stop me playing music, maybe conscription would do it

For some reason I just got bored of music. Used to listen like 4+ hours a day and dropped down to like 4 hours a week lol. Once I did the Bowie discog run tho I was like “why did I ever stop listening to music?”

I had a patch between about 2008 to 2010 where I just wasn't that interested in music and I'd probably have ranked it less important than watching sports for me which is crazy to think about now. I was dating a lot too lol, was getting a bit twitchy in wanting to meet another long term gf at that point.
Music was a tiny bit crap between 2008 and 2010 though really, definitely not a key time for great albums.

Yeah I think that the two years I wasn’t super invested in music was maybe a similar case of just not a lot of great stuff coming out at the time (understandable, since it was Covid timez); makes sense then that it was Bowie who revitalized my love of music.
You still like this album more than RDF?

This album has a lot of issues, it's definitely their most radiohead'ish, almost homage at points - but overall I'd put it slightly above.
Often I think 'if I had to play each album -in full- once every day for a week which would I choose - and in that scenario this album is still tighter.
The highlights of RDF I play as much as the highlights on Get to Heaven so that's it's massive strength, the best four or five songs are real replay champions. The album as a whole drags too much though, similar to the new one.

Interesting. I find this considerably weaker than RDF but I will say this has grown on me a fucking lot over the past month. I’ve been like.. exclusively listening to this band haha. I think if 4 or 5 tracks were cut from RDF it would be a 5/5. I’m a big fan of the 8-10 track format.
I’m starting to get burnt out from just listening to these guys, but it was a rly fun few weeks. So many tracks I never rly paid attention to before have become some of my favourites.

Monstering, Planets and The Actor were tracks I never rly cared about at all before but I’ve played each of them like 10+ times now

Monstering is so derivative but still a lot of fun, I’ve always liked Planets
RDF minus five songs would be a 4.5 for me, probably only then one more additional classic tune away from a 5

EE are a fun band to binge though, probably rank in my top ten most played since GtH came out
