"either step in line with a very vocal minority or be labeled as either a troll or a racist, xenophobic, homophobic, sexist, bigot, etc."
oh poor you, naming all of these things that didn't happen whatsoever. you say it's "illogical" take the many individuals who have made allegations against manson at their word until a 'formal investigation has taken place'. as if it isn't already stacked against the victims in the first place due to an immensely shitty system that i'm betting you have never had to deal with and i sincerely hope you never do.
"Evan Rachel Wood apparently claims that Manson was manipulative and did cruel things. People can be assholes and jerks, but that is not a crime. If Manson did something illegal then she and others should take it to the authorities for a full investiagtion. Anything short of that is simply smearing someone."
this cut and dry view is the essence of taking nuance out of the conversation, which is ironic since it's exactly what you're claiming others are doing. manipulation and being creepy *can* be illegal. there are several reasons why taking harassment to the police can be more damaging to the victim than to the perpetrator. your seemingly automatic view of "well if they didn't go the police there's nothing to report!" allows people like this to retain their platform.
where are *your* biases?

I literally said he's prob. a POS, I even listed sketchy stories I've heard firsthand.
There's a huge difference between labeling someone a terrible person and calling them a rapist. And I've been in plenty of threads over the years where people are directly labeled what I mentioned if they think differently on certain issues. And yes, I've served on jury duty multiple times and experienced how our justice system works, and while it's not perfect it does a pretty damn good job.
Some people very much like to conflate rape and a person being a terrible partner (manipulative, angry, verbally abusive), and I think that's very very dangerous. There's a huge difference between being a manipulative and overall terrible partner and being a rapist. If you can't differentiate the two then I don't know what to say.
You can dislike Manson and think terrible things of him (I personally think he prob. is a very troubled individual with a deep history with drugs and has been abbusive to others in relationships, whether its his bandmates or significant others), but I don't think it's accurate or honest to be causually labeling people rapists when they haven't been proven to be one in a court of law (let alone formally accused), and if it's so obvious they've committed such a heinous crime then go to the police right now, now more then ever the #MeToo movement has given people the support they need to come forward. I just as much as anyone else want him behind bars if he committed such a thing.
Furthermore, you list out how damaging it can be to a victim coming forward, but you neever even consider the damage that can happen to a person falsely accussed of rape. Johnny Depp's current predicament is a perfect example.

false accusations of rape are so statistically remote that they cannot possibly compare to being a victim of rape itself. this whole "but actually what if?" narrative you seem to be spinning is so dismissive. sure, it can be damaging - but it barely ever fucking happens, especially when you consider how under-reported and under-charged rape is as a crime.
you have no fucking clue, dude. it isn't, and has never been as easy as, just 'going to the police'. it has always been stacked against people reporting rape. this is how they get away with this shit. manson's a powerful dude with a lot of money. you think the #metoo movement empowers people but it's people like you giving it less power by not listening and vastly overestimating the fairness of the justice system.
if you wanna give the benefit of the doubt to someone you admit is a piece of shit then fuck me, dude. idk what to tell you.

Let's be honest here MM has always been a cunt and it's very likely he is also a sexual abuser. If he admitted to it with the blind girl in his autobiography it isn't unreasonable to think there's more.

ERW gave her account under oath and it's such a detailed and vivid account too, to think she'd giver her testimony like that just to commit perjury shows a fundamental lack of understanding for how these proceedings usually work. With regards to falsely accusing someone, if we accuse MM and it somehow turns out he hadn't done anything he'll still have a career, a platform and a legion of apologists. If we call ERW a liar and it turns out she was abused that could cause her an unimaginable amount of anguish.

this. you just know he got edgy af when Twiggy got hit with those allegations -- he dumped him instantaneously lol. they were total lunatics back in the day
|

Twiggy has been his musical partner for most of his career, he can't have done that lightly and definitely not without good reason.
For me the biggest absence on this album is Tyler, he really brought out the best in Manson.

I have to disagree there, HUD is very stagnant. I agree they work well together and I would have definitely taken another album from the two, but this has proven to be an even stronger partnership and is a little bit better than TPE imo.
Just jamming it again today and it's such a tightly woven album, maybe the most cohesive record he's ever made.

lmao...You mean after Antichrist and Mechanical? Looking FW to that, sure!
|

I think that's true, but HUD also had its highlights like Kill4Me and Saturnalia and I'd wager Tyler had a big hand in the production of those tracks.
This album definitely isn't bad by any means.

The halo effects comes into play in a lot of these cases. I mean, aren't Maynard and Jesse Lacey rapists as well...
|
| |
Jesse Lacey was a sick man who abused a position of power and influence, but his breach of consent was down to legality and basic common sense determining that his victim was in no position to consent to begin with rather than more active forms of coercion (not that that makes it any less disgusting); Maynard was accused on Twitter on a basis that was since proven to be false (iirc). Not hard to view them as distinct scenarios.
|
| |
Sickness is not an excuse. Also, just because the accuser in the case of Maynard wasn't a famous actress, we shouldn't believe her? Come on. Again, I would say the halo effect is in full swing here. We naturally defend the artists whose art we like.

Jesse Lacey is the biggest nonce on the planet
