Damn, "Paint You With My Love" is just perfect. Might be my early favorite here.

Juan's basswork on that track is my favorite part.
Paint You might be my favorite.

Saw MANSON last year with Rob Zombie and I was straight up reliving my year 2000 High School days. What a great show. This album is pretty damn good too, I am surprised that Brian could come out with such an album this late in his career.

This really surprised me. Was expecting something more like High End of Low with the title track, but instead this sounds more like a logical progression from The Pale Emperor

My brother worked at a venue that hosted Manson numerous times.
His father would come to shows accompanied with hookers he'd take into the back VIP rooms.
On one occasion an under age girl (16 I think) was brought to a show by her own Mother with the goal to lose her virginity to Manson. She and her Mother were allowed to go back to Manson's VIP area, who knows what happened...
So yea, shocker, very anti-establishment rocker was into sex and drugs and did nefarious things.

Really not sure what all the fuss is about. It's decent but it's nothing special.

Anyway, I think my 4.5 was rooted in premature hype; settling on a 4. This isn't as good as Antichrist Superstar but it's in the running for my 2nd fave Manson.

Really impressive album, it's great to see Manson mature like this. He's had such a sporadic career and the pitfalls of shtick his style risks falling into are blatantly obvious, but his maturity is on full display here and he skirts around any major issues for his best batch of songs in 20 years. Nothing here really stands out as an absolute highlight but every song here is quite good; it's just a solid, well crafted release. The production is great, the album flows well and is never tiring. That last part about never being tiring is something I don't think he has truly managed at any previous point in his career.

I love when someone really digs an album. 4.7? Damn, I have to check this out. The last time I dived into Manson was in Mechanical Animals, like three hundred years ago.
Got Bowie vibes on both singles.

Maybe this is a bit of a grower. I found it tasteful, if not fairly bland.

Meh not worth.
Anyway, this album is decent, haven't heard anything else by him in over a decade though so idk how good this is relative to his other stuff

This album has probably some of Manson’s best production since Mechanical Animals tbh. Lots of nice atmosphere and layers

Agreed, I'm just a few listens I've been surprised by all the instrumental layering on the tracks.

Halfway and One Step Forward is 100% a Cover of Cry Me a River by JT, I am officially convinced.

Mechanical Animals is a guilty pleasure of mine, so if it is similar, I will check it out. Great, professional type review.
