Does Ruston's voice remind anyone else of Andy Hull?

went and saw ruston last night in dallas, and if y’all ever consider seeing him, do it immediately
first, rubber live is one of the greatest things i’ve ever heard... has an extended outro with pure intensity that is just unreal
also, he debuted a new song called “The Weakness” and it lowkey goes pretty heavy, has some pretty driving guitar riffs, I’m hype for it to be officially released

@Dylan I love both, so it is possible but have never thought that before.
@tyman I am even more hyped to see him live now

Seeing him at a sold out show at The Ryman in Nashville tonight. His dad (who just released his first album on Friday) is opening. Pumped!

So halfway through Rubber a brass quartet comes out and they do an intense instrumental jam ending for like five minutes, do Mockingbird with the brass quartet and it’s all amazing. Then Ruston says a friend is going to join him and . . . JASON ISBELL walks onstage. And then the encore was Brave with a string quartet. Moment after moment that if just one was there it would have been great. Probably best live show I’ve seen honestly

I love it! Loved it when he played it live over a year ago, and it’s nice to finally hear it on record

New album feels more down-to-earth than this, which was very ethereal. Lyrics alternate between clunky/awkward and beautiful, emotionally hard-hitting poetry which is a bit of an odd vibe to reconcile. Tracklisting does it no favors, either. Yet with all that said, his voice remains phenomenal and even the songs that I thought were poor initially are quickly growing on me. I think The Weakness will be a divisive release, but those who don't immediately write it off will find plenty to enjoy.
