not gonna lie the sentiment of "this is a great Killers album but it doesn't have great hooks" is baffling to me

Somehow I have affection for Day & Age. About half of it at least. I think the bookends (Losing Touch and Goodnight Travel Well) are genuinely great tracks. GTW is my favourite Killers song by far

For what its worth, I love the hook on most of these tracks. My Own Soul's Warning probably being my favorite.
Even on the tracks I dont like as much, the hook is what I do enjoy

Yeah I think Day & Age has some good stuff, mostly Spaceman and I Can't Stay

Ya'll are hard underselling A Dustland Fairytale. One of my favorite Killers songs and the best thing to come from D&A.

I have always harboured a weird dislike for this band but... as far as shameless War on Drugs worship goes, My Own Soul's Warning kinda goes

Spaceman, This Is Your Life, Dustland Fairytale and ig that longboi doom closer were all dec iirc

Can definitely get behind the war on drugs comparison

I think album is a bit uneven, but the bookends are truly excellent
Also, very nice review Sowing, really captured the essence of this album

Nice rating, probably a more objective take than my own but I have such a soft spot for these guys when they actually try.

Not sure why I should even give this album the time of day, but I just have to find out

Omg thanks for the WOD mention, I knew that track vaguely reminded me of a group, but couldn't put my finger on who. I need to ch3ck more of them, have only heard Lost in the Dream

I don't quite get the War on Drugs comparison but partly because I can't stand WOD

As a big War on Drugs fan, I'm not sure the comparison has much validity outside of the opener, but that song does have some WOD or even Springsteen vibes

Dude their whole Sam's Town album is Springsteen worship practically

I've actually never heard Sam's Town, so I'm really just going off what I'm hearing on this album. Besides this, some of the Hot Fuss popular tunes are all I know

In that case, make Sam's Town your next destination

I really wasn't expecting anything from a Killers release in 2020, but after listening to "Caution" a few months ago I decided I'd be sure to check out the full release... and somehow it's actually good! I agree that the middle of the album drags a bit, but it's still largely consistent. Undecided on a score right now, but I can definitely see myself landing on a 4.0.
