I'm working on it now. Kind of a strange issue but thanks for keeping the conversation going here!

The studio effects/production here is gold. Definitely covers up any shortcomings that might have been obvious on previous outings.
My discog ranking as of now is Hot Fuss > Sam's Town > Imploding the Mirage > Day & Age > Wonderful Wonderful > Battle Born

Undoubtedly the greatest pop album of all time

This was great, surprised the killers could make a solid album, as opposed to a hollow container with two or three singles. Pleasant banger.

Yeah sawdust rules and it's been forever since I've jammed it so I need to while I still remember that these guys exist
|
| |
haha fair, yeah i usually go on a binge every couple of years because they were my first ever favourite band
sawdust has all the pretty faces which is a top 3 killers song personally

I mainly recall pretty faces and the song with lou reed (I think it was the opener), but I just know that one time I tried to make day & age better by subbing in songs from sawdust and it just ended up being 66% sawdust lol
|
| |
sounds about right, i like most of day & age and songs like losing touch are among their best, but it was def a mixed bag. tranquilize is a banger too

Yeah i couldn't remember the title but that's it. Dustland Fairytale is probably my personal favorite from D&A. I'm not sure if that album is a grower or if it just sounds better to me now because the two albums that followed it were hot garbage.
|
| |
agreed with you on battle born which was so bleh but i think wonderful wonderful had a few decent tracks, it's on a similar level to day and age personally

Run for Cover was great. The Man was cheesy but fun, same with Rut. That's about all I remember off the top of my head, D&A isn't excellent but it has it edged because I liked about half of the tracklist.

After a couple listens I don't get why everyone's falling all over this one... to me a lot of it just seems like more of the same as their last album, ie. excessive production trying to cover up shoddy lyrics. Genuinely hoping I come around to it though because I want to get what other people are getting out of this

I mean you're not wrong. The lyrics are cumbersome and I think the melodies here are good, not great. What makes this such an improvement over their last two albums is the consistency (see para 2 of review) and the production - which is overdone but not by The Killers' standards because they have no restraint...and I come to them specifically for this kind of over-the-top material anyway lol. I also think the atmosphere is actually really cool. It's got this spacey midwestern vibe. It's definitely no Hot Fuss or Sam's Town, but it easily hurdles the low bar that is the rest of their discography.

Yeah this doesn't come close to Sam's Town or HF for me

Me neither but the important thing is that it is way better than BB and WW

(Hot Fuss and Sam's Town are borderline classics for me)

Sam's Town will always be my fave
