New album is amazing. Biffy never disappoints. Last track is massive.

'no but they're expected not to phone it in every fucking time, so much of their recent stuff is boring laddish alt rock shite pandering to the lowest common denominator, when they started as an interesting and unique post-hardcore band

they've just been lazy for way too long, sure they haven't gotten as bad as fucking Muse (massively low bar) but you'd expect the band that came out with albums like The Vertigo of Bliss and Puzzle to at least try' (2)

Every word of this is on point I'm afraid. I'll probably end up checking this in the hope they've changed for the better and out of obligation / curiosity, but my expectations are very low indeed - although given this is the case perhaps they'll actually manage to exceed them.

Even Ellipsis has 4-5 great great tracks... You can dislike their evolution, but Biffy's albums are more than average, better than any other bands out there. I prefer their first albums? Yes (I actually like their b-sides more that their actual albums lol) But I cannot deny that, from Puzzle to Similarities, they are top 1 alt rock for me.

alt rock is far from my favourite genre, very far... but even so I struggle to see how their alt rock era has any significant moments of quality, in fact most of it is turgid and uninspired dross. Totally forgettable.

I'm actually interested in what other alt rock bands you like now, as putting Biffy above the rest is quite baffling indeed.

Just realised that this band has become so irrelevant to me that I didn't realise this was last year's album, are they releasing one every year now?

Even the Manics have managed to release two vaguely worthwhile albums since Biffy last did anything decent. In fact both are more consistent than Puzzle, let alone anything released since. The bloody Manics, post-Richey. Lol.

Alt-rock is not my favorite genre either, but I found their alt-rock era way better than any other band that u can name in the sense of evolution and not to lower the previous quality much: muse, foo fighters, franz ferdinand (i liked their last album a lot), killers, strokes,... even the arctic monkeys had released 2 awful albums with almost no tracks to save.

Till Ellipsis, I can barely name 1 or 2 biffy tracks that I would skip, and they have released a lot of music.

But opinions are like asses, we all have one :D

New album blows this and most of their most recent output out of the water. It's incredible how they picked up after not releasing anything special for years.

I do agree with this, though. I have all of their albums over 2.5 with the exception of Ellipsis. Need to do a discog run for sure.

New album is their best since fucking puzzle. Wow!
