i listen to everything he puts out despite not rly liking much since sauna and even that’s my least favorite good mount eerie album. ravens is an amazing song to me still but crow as a whole is mostly unlistenable. too emotional bc i know he means all of it
this actually feels like a new phil thing tho and is dynamic and not just stream of consciousness acoustic songs ~but sometimes there’s a random instrument or another vocalist, how beautiful the mountains that also grieve tangible human loss~ phil

the section where he first changes the chord through the brief little piano medley is jaw-dropping; if the beginning and end of the album went toe to toe with that part, this would be an easy 5 no questions asked

I like how the last time we heard from gyro he said this album is “good” and then somehow settled on a beautiful 1.0

I understand the sentiment behind Crow, but it’s impossible to listen to and enjoy.

At first I had little patience and found it dull and unbearable. Then I was brought in by the chords and the mood calmed down. It was as fascinating as listening to a story, felt lost when it was suddenly over.
I hadn't heard of this band before, and I didn't know about this guy at all.

Does not nearly reach heights of glow pt 2 or Mount Eerie. Although the last one is one of the bigggest growers ever so I will give it more time. Im glad Phil is still making music.
And yeah what cd was amazing lucky to have been invited.

Eh this is ok but Mount Eerie Clear Moon is easily this guys best. His most cerebral. This doesn’t do much.

halfway through this and loving it. haven’t truly loved a Phil release since Wind’s Poem in ‘09. i agree with Pots - this is more a graceful return to form than a continuation of his most recent strand of eclectic monotony.

I wasn't blown away by Clear Moon or Ocean Roar back in the day. It's been years since I've revisited though tbh. They're both 3.5's as far as my memory serves me.
Can I take 1 second to say that the album art for this rules?

i dunno, i get weird, jazz-core prog-metal vibes from the cover...thought it was a new terraformer album at first.
the music speaks for itself though, so Phil could've pulled a no love deep web and it would've been fine.
