the guitars on here are so good. so many memorable riffs and the solos rip. excellent atmosphere and i'll never get over how the album ends on a spacey ambient trance section. probably my AOTY as of right now

Initially that ending bothered me because I was expecting some powerful and grandiose but like, the more I listened to it the more magical it felt. Like I was standing atop an icy fjord after clashing some steel. Fuck this album rules

I think the last song was really grandiose, and was just perfect and the long ambiance just helped to let the whole riff-fest "sink in". It needed such a "resting" finish, in my opinion - and that's why it is perfect.

Definitely, album takes no prisoners.
Edit:
Having listened to all three Havukruunu albums back-to-back, third is a straight 4, the second - merely a transition to the third - a solid 3.5, while the first a 3.7++.

AOTY

AOTY indeed. this year has brought a wealth of excellent releases, even just within the black metal umbrella, but nothing has topped this thing for me

one of the strongest albums of the year indeed

good review, the appealing aspect of combining genres and how it adds to an overarching sonic narrative was well taken. cool album so far and good cover art too haha

Their BEST album so far. It just gets better in winter. It's a 4'5 in winter and a solid 4 any other season.

Very good bm album in itself, with a well incorporated folk gimmick. When I want Finnish polyphonic folk chorals, however, I go straight to Värttinä.
That said, the guitars are dope.
