Ah, I didn't think you ment to be offensive. That's not really your style. As for kissing and making up...just no. Although, I believe a virtual hand shake would suffice.
EDIT: just because a song has length doesn't make it good. This Message Edited On 07.12.06

But JOS flows through each different song as if its many songs, but you can tell its still the same song...... kind of progressive (just f*cking kidding, before I get the anvil).

If you don't like the album then that's fine. But don't go around critisizing other people for liking it. If they like it it's their choice. (Not directed at anyone personally, I'm just saying.)
I personally thought this album was as good if not better than Dookie. it's really catchy and has great lyrics IMO.This Message Edited On 07.12.06

Most songs on this album annoy me but I like Blvd. Of Broken Dreams.

It was an OK album. I used to like them but now I like more of AFI, Death Cab for Cutie, Death From Above 1979, etc.

I think I like every song on this album. Even Homecoming, which I consider the worst on this album(too long of a song for the quality. Jesus Of Suburbia is okay that long, but Homecoming isn't quite good enough for that.) still gets 3/5, here. Great review.

People who listen to metal tend to focus too much on the performance of the individual instruments. A song could easily be great without complex riffs/drums/basslines. Your intro reads as if simplicity is a bad thing. This is pop-punk. It's supposed to be simple and catchy, and metalheads are supposed to hate it.This Message Edited On 07.13.06

Musically, simplistic songs are often derided as talentless, but it takes alot more talent to write a simple, great pop or rock song than it does to shred up a storm.
well said bron, well said.
If you want simplistic and great pop songs cheack out the pixies.

I don't necessarily hate all pop-punk. I actually enjoy alot of it. Mainly because most of it is fun music. That's a necessity for me "fun". Usually if the instrumentals are really basic it doesn't bother me, but when combined with serious/sad lyrics with no "Fun-ness" they get on my nerves a little.

cool review. the drums rock and the solos suck. i love fun lyrics but why hate depressing ones?
yeah. all of the songs only has one melody. try to play Jesus of Suburbia in guitars, bass and drums. you get the same sound- well almost.

Mhmm...so how do you feel about the album? I like it a lot.
|
| |
The first 4 songs are gold. 5-9 are pretty meh and 10-13 are pretty strong.
So once again I go from hating this to digging it once again.

^I'm in that exact same position.
And I say it doesn't matter if you can shred up a storm. All I look for in a musician is if they can write a good song and at least play it out to the full extent that they are capable of. I'm not saying that soloing doesn't take talent or musicianship, but without the brains put behind the brawn the song just comes out feeling shallow and limited. Plus metal soloing is painfully easy.
