I understand that criticism; I think the third disc is deliberately more relaxed and (comparatively) "mellow" (that is to say, less dark and overwhelming; the absence of pounding drums has a lot to do with it) to follow with the theme of the end of humankind and its rebirth and all that jazz (no pun intended). But after enduring the first two discs, the third can get a tad enervating.

Finally sat through this thing. Awesome stuff. Could see myself bumping this up, but thought there were a handful of weaker tracks on first listen.

Not sure why there's hate for the third disc, HELIOZOAPOLIS is the best drone track I've heard in a long time.

Definitely a couple comparatively weaker tracks, but repeat listeners have kind of turned those into supplementary interludes and mood setters. Definitely an album that works better (almost *only *, actually) as a whole.

A lot of good intros, outros, and interludes... Not much there as far as songs go. Seems like a bunch of fluff that would be placed at the end of the last track (of a fantastic album), for ten minutes of weird instrumentals before the hidden bonus track. But the hidden bonus tracks never came and had me annoyed 2/3 the way through.

I mean....I, too, love ( ) and coincidentally gave it the same rating as this. I probably prefer it by a hair, if I'm being honest.

But I don't remotely see the connection between the two albums; they could not be more dissimilar.

RYM occasionally gets one right. (Also #9 on Sput at the moment but I doubt that'll last.)

They are if you know how to use them. The top albums are sometimes good too.

I don't user them a tonne but RYM charts are dope, quality is up and down of course but the fact that you can customize the results right down to sub genre is a great feature (on the days that the servers don't take 5 years to build the list).

Plus RYM is one of the best sites (that I've seen at least) for accurate genre and descriptor tags which makes chart navigation just that much easier.
