I'm surprised this is their lowest rated album here. It's my favorite Pyrrhon's by a margin.

I feel like this album’s structure is a big reason why people had a hard time getting into it. Even though it makes sense in the context in the album, putting the longer songs in the front half and the shorter songs in the back half does make the album feel lopsided.
Also Doug Moore made a write up how the band’s first album got made and there’s some crazy shit in it. If the phrase “piss swamp” intrigues you in any way, give it a read: https://mantheramparts.medium.com/an-excellent-outcome-but-a-terrible-process-making-the-first-pyrrhon-album-f36a5ca81591

yeah i wasnt much of a fan tbh. but i find pyrrhon themselves really hit or miss.
band ranges from wildly good to sort of mediocre. i never hate them, it all just gets a bit much at points
still i find myself listening to this band pretty often these days. The title track off this is immense

I can see that. I do appreciate how often they’re willing to take risks and push their music to such extremes, especially on this album. And for the most part it pays imo, even in its more headscratching moments, I can see what they’re going for. If their next album runs under 45 min I feel that more people will warm up to them.

This is very sweaty music. Perfect for the (endless) summer.

Didn't jam this apart from a few times when it dropped, digging the hell out of it lately though

Ballsiest move to open your album with t/t. Could not set the stage better.

The Lean Years is such a killer track. Feels like it's own self-contained journey.
"And when your flensed focus ran thin
Your shameful suckling began
With thirst unslaked, you’d take andTAKEANDTAKEANDTAKEANDTAKE"

t/t does definitely get me lubed up

Doug Moore is my favorite metal lyricist. Like it's upsetting that this album was written before COVID happened because every topic this album tackles became so much worse in a post COVID world. This was the album that got me through 2020 because it was the album that best reflects the world during the pandemic
