I keep finding myself coming back to this. The shorter length definitely contributes, I think.

I'm not sure he'll ever achieve "notoriety" as you put it, but I do think this will be considered his best work. His other stuff, while still good, was not nearly this memorable. Would sure be nice to see him at least get more widespread critical acclaim for this album, if not actual fame.
And yeah, the 34 minute runtime makes this even more accessible. There are few times I can't finish this - probably listened nearly 20 times and it hasn't even been a week. The biggest factor, of course, is that this flat out rules. Very strong combination of electronics, string/synth orchestration, and uniquely haunting vocals.

I haven't stopped since Friday. It's crazy considering I've been obsessed with multiple other records and I just stopped listening to them all on a dime.

I'm still at the early stages of listening, so Hold On Tight and Concrete are tickling my fancy. Also that one part where he does the Jellyfish hunting war cry. Loodloodloodloodleoo!

That was unexpected
Will this be the second time we agree (Noonday Dream the lone other I can recall)?

Funnily enough the pulsing distortion in Love, Disorderly (song) reminds me alot of Ye's 'On Sight'.

I hear it a little, but I'd trade out the spacey laser synths for more of an authoritative Muse bravado circa 'Resistance' and then I'd 100% agree that it's a blend of those two.

God that tone drop with the strings at 2:30 of 'If There's a God' is the absolute best

two runs through and this has potential - definitely at least a 3.5, see if it can go any higher

That's better than I was expecting tbh - I often have trouble predicting what you will and won't like. I felt like you might like the vocals (?) most, was unsure about the musical style although it has an 80s-but-modernized vibe that I really dig. The digestible length and the fact that it's 8/8 in terms of all the tracks being worthwhile makes it impossible for me to move on to another album. This just holds my attention and even when I'm not listening to it, I'm thinking about it.

Keep the play by play coming. Hold on Tight isn't even close to the best IMO.

This is really good, review and all. "Concrete" and "Open Your Arms" are especially gorgeous. 500 reviews.... that is just staggering. Massive congrats, Sowing. You'll always be one of the best reviewers on the webs.

wtf is with the Freed From Desire cover on this.
This has been such a throwback song here in the UK right now, it's getting played everywhere so it just took me back to all those drunken chants
