Sowing you've introduced me to 50 or so albums that I still listen to regularly in the last year I been lurking sputnik and it's sad to see you go! Will listen to this one too many times I reckon.

That's awesome to hear RichRomp, means a lot! I still plan on being involved via the staff blog. I haven't figured out quite how yet, but I will still be making people aware of what I'm listening to. It just won't be in lengthy review formats.

And yeah, this is so amazing. I listened 4 times all the way through today alone. It helps that it's such a brief affair (34 mins). I've been trying to hold off on premature 5's, but this is making the temptation difficult to resist. Every single song is incredible.

Coheed reference in the summary, Sowing? ;]

when nobody mentioned the reference I just assumed it was because it was obvious, but I'm glad someone pointed it out =D

it felt like an appropriate catch phrase for this given the overarching concept of fear and tension, and that intense gaze on the cover

very much appreciate the wishes, it's time for me to spend more time with my family - I'll still be curating some blog features and modding this place into oblivion though, and I can't rule out a rare future review if an artist I closely identify with returns to the scene

This is definitely growing on me--I think I've listened 3 times in the last 24 hours now. "Entertainment" in particular.

Glad you enjoyed it. For me, the t/t, Entertainment, and the closer were immediate standouts, but now I love every song. Gotta run through 'em now since it's such a short tracklist:

1. Love, Disorderly - Menacing instrumental opener with some cool pauses and samples. The song that first ensnared my interest here. 4.5/5

2. Hold on Tight - Urgent chorus with haunting wails in the background and plenty of strings. 4/5

3. Concrete - Beautifully muddled, love the tension and release sprawling across the entire song. 4.5/5

4. Entertainment - Sounds like a really dark Bowie song about technology taking over the world. 5/5

5. If There's a God - Sounds like a James Bond theme or something, just feels mysterious and imposing. 4.5/5

6. For Tsoy - The weightless, airy backing vocals give this such an ethereal vibe. Feels like floating on clouds. 4.5/5

7. Freed from Desire - Reminds me of something Arcade Fire would write, but back when they were really good. Love how unhinged Azier allows himself to become vocally. 4.5/5

8. Open Your Arms - A breathtaking, gradual fade from physical presence to ambience. This song is the sound of something melting, or floating away, or dissipating. Just brilliant. 5/5

I feel like all of these could end up being 5/5's lol. Also, I'm about a millisecond away from slapping a 5 on the whole album. (edit: done)

Hopefully I'll be finding ways to still keep people abreast of my new discoveries via the blog. Reviewing is just eating up too much time for me right now and I have increasingly serious obligations both at work and at home.

Hope this was a worthwhile note to go out on. It's vying in a big way for AOTY right now with Honey Harper and Zach Bryan (who would have thought that halfway through the year 2/3 of my AOTY contenders would be country???)

What's with the one non-streaming track on Bandcamp? 8 of 9, 'Armor'

Worth mentioning too that Freed From Desire is a cover of a 90s dance track by Gala so interesting you'd draw an Arcade Fire comparison lol
