"I must say tho, album art is cool though despite it being AI. There was a very interesting controversy about it. Probably worth a quick read if you haven’t already heard about it"

Interested. Link it Purpy

Basically what happened is that they paid a guy to do the art, whom they had worked with previously, but it wasn’t quite what they were looking for, so they opted for AI art.
Im having trouble finding the original art cause the tweet was deleted. It’s a weird situation and honestly I think the AI art(with the human add ons) fits the tone much better. Weird stuff tho

agreed on these guys being a bit samey and this being a step down from their previous work. but I will say their best tracks are REALLY damn good ie shattered, forever marked, better days, etc. like 6 of their tracks across 3 album/eps have put them in my top 3-4 favs in the scene lmao

"It’s gonna be a 3.5"

I'll be shocked if it's better, unsurprised if it's worse. Any more stinkers like Vengeance and that rating drops.

I thought the art originally done by the artist was way cooler than the AI art lol

As an artist, the prospect of AI art becoming more and more prominent is dangerous, and I'm definitely worried about the implications it could have for those trying to make a living off of it. Something about turning to a computer to do art all on its own with essentially no human input is just... wrong.

I mean, it's funny now until it happens on a wide scale lol, which is exactly where this is headed and I think it's tragic.

Yeah I don't mean to go full boomer, technology is a great asset, but I draw a line when AI begin to corner the arts. Bands as small (relative to the mainstream) as Currents doing this is concerning imo, indicative of a growing trend.

Honestly it’s probably more common among small bands because paying artists is a much heftier cost for them. Big artists won’t have a problem paying for the premium of a real artist. Obviously, this specifically has been a unique case (so far)
