I'm a sucker for those tight, choppy guitar rhythms coupled with the bass drum. Lawd

It's pretty good but what the hell is up with "The Ascent"?It just... ends...

It ends after a terrific outro section tbh

Good stuff. The Tempest, Slow Violence and Autumn are my favorite songs.

Meh, I stand by my statement. It's cool, but it just doesn't blow me away. It doesn't have the power I hoped it would have.

This record is sick. The Tempest, Salt, The Ascent are all jams but the jams don't stop there.

That's an interesting comparison for Grey. Didn't think about that, but I can see the similarities for sure. Guess it helps that CH leans into that same kind of borderline alternative metal sound at points.

This album has some really sick riffs, and it feels strong top to bottom. Fewer peaks than their previous albums, but they're as consistent as ever, imo. Feels like another 4/5.

I'm focusing on In Contact today and tomorrow, want to finally formulate an opinion on it. After that I'll spin this one and we'll see how it looks but judging by average it'll be sweet to play while learning for my finals

Another sick album, been blasting this one on mountain bike rides all week. Jim Grey's voice is one of a kind and unlike many other clean singers never really annoys me. The song compositions are so well thought out and they do an amazing job of choosing their spots

Usually not a fan of this group but this album has got its hooks in me. Great stuff.

Im ready to give this a 5, I never give anything a 5. I know exactly how many albums in my preference deserve a 5 and before this album it was at 14. Now it has grown to 15 (which is nice because I love multiples of 5). This album is so addictive I literally can't stop listening to it. In my opinion it perfectly synthesizes everything CH has done to this point and brings It into the 2020s with a very large and modern sounding production.

I love this album, but I'm sure some won't. Basically, if you don't like Slow Violence as a song, then you and I have nothing to discuss.

Also, Salt is now my favorite CH song period.

Autumn is become one of my favorite C-Horse tracks. That last vocal line plus the lyrics ... rules

Im struggling with the track Salt. Doesnt do much for me and kills momentum. More listens required, might feel different about it.

Can fans of the song highlight to me its good points in detail, sometimes that helps.

Haven't bitched about this album in about a week. I'm still not hearing whatever you guys are with this album. Any of their first 3 albums is worlds better.

Nah, Ephemeral City is still better than this. The songs have much more character, and the production is less dense and overwhelming. I enjoy it so much more.

I must have listened to this like 8 or 9 times now, and each time I've enjoyed it a little bit less. Barring Slow Violence, I can't recall any of the melodies here like I can with their older stuff. It just does nothing for me.

I've had the opposite effect. I've listened a handful of times now, and each time I dig it just as much, if not more.
