i'll be your girl straight up sounds like coheed and cambria

Automatically In Love is the best song on Dedicated and better than any song on this as well.

Meh I think Right Words Wrong Time is easily the worst song on there. Feels Right I'd probably put below it as well. I'll Be Your Girl is fun enough to be solid in my book

Automatically in Love / Julien / Real Love are my favorites on Dedicated in no particular order

I'll Be Your Girl sounds just like a bad perfume commercial to me

This is good but largely unremarkable. Nothing really stood out to me after one spin, which absolutely wasn't true of Emotion, Emotion Side B, or even Dedication (Side A). My thought during every song: 'This is a good/decent pop song.' Hoping it grows on me with time, but her last three albums were instant hits.

also the best song on Side A is 'Real Love' and that's pretty much indisputable.

I have a feeling I would have loved Real Love as a young adult but now I feel sorry for Carly... it's like she never grows up. She's old and still doesn't see all the real love around. It's unfortunate

I mean there are a lot of artists for whom I feel sorry - doesn't necessarily mean you can't enjoy the music. Might be more difficult to connect with it vicariously, I guess, but this is all mindless pop music, anyway. Needn't be enlightening or any of that, nomsayin'?

Florrie's Real Love > Carly's Real Love

I don't think just because she writes pop songs about longing for love, and does it for a living, means that she doesn't know what real love is and should be pitied

Dedicated had to grow on me more than Emotion did, but since I enjoy Dedicated so much now, I don’t think I will have that problem with Dedicated Side B.

"I mean there are a lot of artists for whom I feel sorry - doesn't necessarily mean you can't enjoy the music."
I guess it rubs me the wrong way when pop songs tell girls their lives aren't worth living if they don't have this supposedly real love... when in fact, the love you don't have is the unreal love

I don't think that's the message at all lol
Expressing a longing for true love doesn't diminish other aspects of life to the point of it not being worth living

"Expressing a longing for true love doesn't diminish other aspects of life to the point of it not being worth living"
It can be challenging to translate this sequence to boys, *shrugs*
I mean, it's a good song, I just don't like the philosophy. You can't actually long for love, it's not stored in a box

i don't even understand what you talking about lol

pop definitely puts emphasis on an idealized concept of 'love' being an important element to life, which by contrast puts other things as less important if love isn't present.

See, Zaruyache gets it. Thank you lol
I work in psychology. The reason why girls and boys look for help is not the same. Real Love reminds me of that

Definitely also uncool to consider one type of love 'real' vs another equally valid type of love 'unreal'.
I don't find that to be the song's message though, it's a bit more of a broad reflection on how hard it can be to make real connections in the modern world to me
