Agreed. Pretty sure nothing of theirs post-hiatus was a radio hit. Even in 2007 with Paper Walls I remember Fighting and Light Up the Sky really struggling to make headway. Ocean Ave was their claim to fame, this album saw it waning, and then it was lights out. With that said, they were a much better band after returning from hiatus - screw popularity!

Great record, always liked this one more than their later stuff

Dang Sowing, I feel this review so hard. The first paragraph is exactly how I'm feeling, a new Yellowcard, or even Ryan Key EP/LP, would be so good right now.
I have a lot of love to give this album. Lyrically it may well be their best if Southern Air didn't hold so much meaning to me.

even with it's black sheep status, the highlights off this one still stand tall with the rest of yellowcard's discography

Thanks Lucman. I agree that this is lyrically very underrated.

Phenomenal review. Not my favorite of theirs by far, but still this band brings the feels.

Thanks AxeToFall! Not my favorite either, but they're so consistent.

Great album but I’ve always preferred Paper Walls for this style of theirs. think I’m overdue for a YC binge

I just finished a YC binge and am hoping that The Wonder Years can take the torch as my next pop punk obsession. I've struggled to get into their back catalog for whatever reason despite loving Sister Cities.

This album is great! I listened to it on repeat when I was a kid. But I never listened to the other yellowcard albums on repeat, because they were easy to bore me. Paper walls, When You're Through and Southern Air are all too positive for me, like when someone smiles at you with the same curve every time, you start to doubt if it's real. As a result, I like yellowcard, rich drums, ryan's voice and sunny positive attitude. But I only spin the record once everytime. hehe
But this album will never bore me. two weeks from twenty will never bore me.

They pulled off their leather jacket rock era with minimal cringe.

If this is how the vocals always sound live I need their producer to produce my voice too.

Something very sad happened the day before the only time I saw yellowcard live. I was even in the first row for gods sake. Halfway through the show I couldn't take it anymore and I was crying while watching.

I still really like this one, but the energy is definitely different. OA was a summer jam, this is more like a rainy day thing.
