@Nocte they just seem to make really bog-standard atmo-bm with some folk influences from their homeland sprinkled in. I've always found their compositions to be really sterile, much like their production (although this record did sound superior production wise to their earlier releases). Especially outfits like Saor and Panopticon, but also Wolves in the Throne Room, The Ruins of Beverast, Der Weg Einer Freiheit, Falls of Rauros et cetera, are just so much better at making this atmospheric type of black metal IMHO.

P.S. You can burn me at the stake for this, but I think their riffs are really bloody boring.

Why is The Ruins of Beverast even there?

Saor, Panopticon, Winterfylleth, Der Weg Einer Freiheit, Falls of Rauros...etc...all operate within the same sonic landscape
The Ruins of Beverast is a more unique creature

@Deftone: I was naming atmospheric black metal outfits of the top of my head (although Ruins has death/doom influences you could argue).

@Thalassic: that's why I mentioned those outfits, I would just argue they're better at what they do within this given musical paradigm than Winterfylleth (which I think is comparatively average to those outfits).

Beginning to grow on me. I like their aggressive style of atmospheric bm.

I will give it more spins. For some reason I can't click with this band. They should be right up my alley.

Gave this a few spins and nothing really stands out.

Seems a bit competent but not very interesting.

This has amazing production though. It's a bit samey but it has some really high highs.

I won't betray my metalhead (due to an accident as a child) and claim their best is their detour through acoustic folk.
