funny enough, that's precisely what this is not to me...

been on their debut and that's fs a standart psystoner album...you get lost on tunes and songs...music to smoke with friends etc...each track here has its own carachter, give them memorabilty etc...also they adventour themselves with some other vibes...female choirs etc.....always in some space vintage way but different from classic stoner, or their peers.

I stumbled upon this thanks to a YouTube recommendation. From there, I checked the KEXP performance and I have to say that I might be hooked.

This record provides a pretty stelar interpretation of psychedelic rock, yet it also feels far too bloated and stylistically homogeneous to keep my attention throughout. Maybe I should give it another listen, just to see whether I'll change my mind, but I generally I think will continue to prefer Yurig Gagarin's release from this year.

This absolutely destroys Yuri Gagarin's latest (2 great tracks, 1 alright, 1 filler).

And this is exactly the opposite of bloated, not only they have an incredible dynamic and flow while playing/jamming/improvising, they also introduce synths, female vocals, and a lot of surprises across the board.

Honestly sometimes I think some people here is listening to a different album.

I’m glad this got a review, this albums kicks some legitimate ass. It’s doomy, spacy, and just fuckin bangs. Got a lot of oh sees vibes. These guys are not a band to sleep on and I’m hopin they come to the Americas. Also hope my vinyl of this from France gets to me.

Lol I rarely see a reviewer get their panties in such a wad when people don’t share their overinflated opinions. Sorry it hurts your feelings that some people think this is bog standard stoner psych, bud.

Hey my opinion wasn't overinflated. True, I was a bit drunk when I became acquainted with these gentlemen but still!

My feelings are intact though, not gonna get a on a bonus payroll for people giving 5s!

"Sorry it hurts your feelings that some people think this is bog standard stoner psych, bud." eheh the point is that it isn't though...for reasons Dew explained...don't think he inflated his opinion :P

I mean off course, one can like or not like this - because its a "bog" (as some say), or bloated, or too long etc...but to call it "standard stoner psych" is the worst argument possible, cause ultimately what this has to offer is a few new feats and different song structers, that differ from the one note jams of standart stoner psych.

Strong record. This is a grower for me, after 4-5 listens I still find out parts I was not very aware of. I also checked out their performance at KEXP, it's really cool.

@Dewinged, to each their own I suppose, but the variation you cited only occurs rather sporadically and isn't nearly enough. Tracks really started to blend together as a consequence and their use of dynamics, if anything undermines the atmosphere they're attemtping to create.

Under the mountains of guitar effects and compression, you'll find pretty standard jam/psych/stoner instrumentation. It's been done before by bands such as Causa Sui and Colour Haze, to a far superior degree, I might add. They're not really pushing any boundaries and I don't feel the musical experience they offer is nearly immersive enough, certainly in comparison to the new YG release, which at the very least isn't as tediously longwinded as this record.

Never been a huge fan of Causa Sui or CH, I actually apply your argument to those two bands Mori. But hey, like I said, I ain't got any reason to convince you this is good, but don't try to convince me this is bad either ;)
