Great review, agree with many of these points. Production is one of the weaker points of the album and one song in the spirit of Hymn For The Missing would have been great, but I can't complain about this album at all. First few listens have no songs I find myself skipping.

Poor mixing didn't entirely ruin what is probably their best album tbh. Could use some sort of deluxe edition with a few new songs and remixed/remastered. I'd pay money for that.

Production is a bit iffy but yeah this is solid throughout. Great write up, by the way.

I mean, if you add the cover and the alternative versions of Evening Hate EP at the end you already have a deluxe version in your hands.

thanks man!

"I mean, if you add the cover and the alternative versions of Evening Hate EP at the end you already have a deluxe version in your hands."

I hope that's not the case because that would be quite lazy and underwhelming for sure. They already confirmed that they were re-recording Condor last year and showed clips of the reworked sounds of the song. Also, on Twitter, they said they made a full-band cover of Hemorrhage which would be cool to hear.

Also, supposedly on the live stream yesterday or whatever, they said that they'd be doing an acoustic album of their biggest hits, so we'll see what that is considering a lot of their hits already have acoustic versions...

I think the issue with the production is the fact that the record's entirely crowdfunded, since they're now an independent band. They probably didn't raise enough for better mixing equipment.

Compared to RtP and Gone altogether, the good outweighs the bad by a mile.

The hate on the production is awfully overstated. It lacks some polish and the instrumentation can he somewhat muffled at points, but I've heard a lot worse. And yep, being independent and crowdfunded makes it more forgivable. It's not damning in the slightest.

The fact that his vocals sound as good as ever on here really makes me not care that much about the muddled instrumentation. It's more of a disappointment that they drowned out the best guitar work in their disco than it ruining the enjoyment.

At the end of the day I listen to this band because of Michael Barnes and his incredible vocals and he's peak form here. He's amazing live too.

I honestly can't stand rtp. Howard benson actually made this band sound bad which is quite an achievement. Also, same disease and die for you are cringe worthy. In a recent interview with loudwire Randy stated he doesn't like that album so hopefully they learned from that.

RtP is not good. I have it as a 1.5 on here =/. Every other album in their disco at least offers something except that one.

I'm almost tempted to give this a 4.5, simply because I want to see the average reach a 4

I still prefer the first two and obar over this but it is pretty solid.
