I’m a NIN n00b, where do I start?
Definitely The Downward Spiral. Then check Broken and The Fragile, then maybe backtrack to Pretty Hate Machine. Then pick it back up With Teeth and just plow through the rest chronologically. Make sure you don’t skip Broken! It may be an EP but it’s one of NIN’s best work. An extremely caustic and rage filled 25 minutes. Will leave you blown away.

"Start with Downward Spiral, then skip straight to Year Zero, then do whatever"
Don't listen to half of his advice, do listen TDS and Year Zero tho, but check everything else out lol.

Exactly. He’s only half right.

Ars' dig simultaneously makes me happy and is wildly misplaced in a NIN thread lmao

And? How does releasing one double album of ambient songs after it make it a pattern?
|

Album Rating: 4.0
it doesn't, it's just odd for a band that has never made an ambient album in 30 years to release two albums simultaneously of that nature, but honestly I'd call Bad Witch a stepping stone in that direction for sure. regardless, I don't really keep up with this band so that's why I was wondering if I missed something

Ghosts was an ambient album. Half of Slip was ambient too. Both released in 2008. Also Trent and Atticus made ambient soundtracks when NIN went on hiatus - the osts for The Social Network and Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Both very good if I may add.
