Actually pretty good on first listen imo. Definitely better than Lightning Bolt (possibly their worst album, though Getaway is a top PJ song), but not as good as Backspacer (underrated, I love that album).

Ive been going back through their discography and got through backspacer which i definitely agree as underrated. It has some good songs. I now, more than ever, can see how nothing else they have done as a whole album truly lives up to Ten, or even Vs. for that matter.

Don’t forget Vitalogy, Yield and No Code. All great albums. Vitalogy is probably my favorite PJ record.

Binaural and Backspacer are underrated (Unthought Known is one of their best songs). Riot Act and S/T are pretty meh, but some good songs. Lightning Bolt has gotta be their worst, which is why this is a pretty pleasant surprise so far.

For sure, Vitalogy is absolutely great, and I would have said that Yield was probably my favorite PJ record until probably recently. I just think that Vitalogy kinda signaled the beginning of the change to what they are now. If every record captured that essence then things would be different. I feel like they have tried to write agressive songs but the chord progressions are kinda bland, and a lot of it seems watered down now.

I think this album will grow on (some) people. It’s actually pretty good. I say give it a few more spins before making a decisive verdict.

Well, yeah...AiC IS superior, but there’s room for Pearl Jam as well.

Seven O’Clock and Alright are really good. And I actually like Dance of the Clairvoyants. Hated it at first as it was just such a bizarre sound for them, but it grew on me.

I feel like the last full album I liked was Binaural. Everything has always been super hit or miss ever since
