This is like the beginning of a horror movie where the crazy old guy tries to warn the teenagers that the campsite's haunted.

found out about this band because the vocalist was in misery signals' rain city sessions video

I remember that video haha. He's definitely got a great command over that mid-range sort of bellow. Pulls it off well live to, which is definitely a plus.

Anytime, my man, and the album is on my radar, to be sure. I’ll squeeze it in between lists 5-6.

Them dark, tremmy riffs

This has really great moments, but the vocals became a bit repetitive towards the end.
Still, a good jam.

This band could be this years greyhaven. Definitely one of the first surprises in the core genre for me. Really digging the sound they are going for. The riffing is top notch and the vocalist roar gets me going

@bigguy they've got a great collection of songs here, definitely a solid bunch to check out.
@Ray I'd but Greyhaven a level above these guys, but I do agree that this was a bit of a surprise; I assumed they were trending in a different direction. Wish he had more variation in his vocals at times, but his volume at that range is impressive enough to help cover for it.

yeah, greyhaven definitely came out of nowhere and received a more overwhelming reception, which seems logical considering their more approachable musical direction. Can't really compare them musically
And yeah vocalist is not versatile by any means but he's certainly enthusiastic and competent enough at what he does to make up for it

Greyhaven were a lot more of the unbridled-chaos route a la Dillinger with the hooks and carefree musicianship of ETID. This is a lot more straightforward in the metalcore realm, but that doesn't make it bad whatsoever--just a different approach.
I think Greyhaven might have new material in the future too, so that's worth looking forward to, potentially. I think a lot of artists that released top material around 2017-2018 are ready to bring the heat again.

This is good, it reminds me of Hunter era A Life Once Lost

I do believe they distanced themselves more from the early 2000s in this album. Their precious effort was much more in line with that style of metalcore and I think it has served them well here. It's definitely still there, but it doesn't hold too much sway

fully agree on your statement about greyhaven mars. And I'm also curious af how their new material will sound. Their latest single sounded extremely promising. Hopefully they can pick up the steam they made with Empty Black.
And if not, we still get new ETID this year m/
