Honestly think this is a big step up from their previous, which I dig a lot but still feel it is "one sided mood" and relies to much on atmo.

Good review dude, never jammed these guys before but I'm digging the first track here. It's simple as you said but ever changing throughout the song. The drums have a ton of variety, they switch to a classic dance beat somewhere around 2-3 minutes in, and then back to black metal, it holds my interest.
