First half of this album is pretty lame...take a bow is good but 2-4 are all poppy borderline trash...I personally love hoodoo and the Queen-tacular soldier's poem...even invincible's energy and intensity beats its corny-ness out...this album in no way compares to their previous 2...but is still a good album.

matt said it'll be more along the lines of their electronica/pop-influenced stuff, so it probably will be.

So I've just started getting into Muse. As of right now, I have Absolution, Origin of Symmetry, and this. I have to say that this one is my overall favorite, although I haven't had OoS long enough to get a real impression of it. I don't really get why people think that this isn't a very good album. Starlight, Map of the Poblematique, Exo-Politics, etc are all amazing songs.

Absolution is my favorite Muse album, but this rules too, as does OoS. But I adore the vocal harmonies on Knights of Cydonia so much.

Album is freaking awesome. Heard it about five times on a trip recently. Does the Knights of Cydonia bridge remind anyone else of "Across the Universe"?

"No one's gonna change my world...."

Muse are without a doubt one of my favourite non-metal bands.

"Map Of The Problematique" and "Knights Of Cydonia" are epic. The rest, well, it needs time to grow on me. BH&R never stun me like Absolution.

I was really surprised by how good this album was. There are a lot of solid songs on this. I still think I like Origin of Symmetry the best though.

I dont understand why everyone hates this. Origin is better, but at times this ties or beats Absolution, in my opinion. I mean, look at all the great songs:

Take A Bow

Supermassive Black Hole

Map Of The Problematique

Assassin

City Of Delusion

Hoodoo

Knights of Cydonia

The rest are all good too, just not amazing.

Oh, and if you like this album (or didnt but still like Muse), go right now and listen to Glorious. It's a b-side, and its one of the best things Muse has ever written. The other two b-sides (Easily and Crying Shame) are also really good, although they dont match Glorious.

supermassive black hole gets annoying and is the direction they are going which sucks, all the other songs you mentioned are really good, but the bad songs on this album suck big time...plus their other albums felt like complete works while this feels more like a group of songs

^^ They're not going in the direction of Supermassive Black Hole. They're going more symphonic and experimental, if what they're saying is to be believed.

This album makes me feel like I should be listening to Origin of Symmetry again. Or silence.

This albums has its ups and downs, but it's excellent overall. And I can't help the fact that I actually do like Starlight and Supermassive Black Hole. And I don't even like poppy rock music!
