The female chorus in Death Croons and the sax in Stay Cruel get me hard.

Death Croons is indeed amazing, possibly my favorite here. Can't decide between that or Heat Lightning.

Yeah second listen and this is good - no wonder anatelier rates this high...it's like the last Veils album mixed with Protomartyr

glad you enjoyed the album Doof! I guess I'll have to check out The Veils' Total Depravity sometime soon.

also for anyone interested, a Bandcamp feature was done for this album last week. it's really well-written even though it basically gives away a majority of the lyrical connections:

This might be about to top Envy and REOL for my fave of the year. Made me think of Total Depravity too, for all the right reasons

Is this better or different than their last album? I heard it was different.

If the three tracks before the closer weren't a little staid, this'd be an insta 4.5. Gonna check the one before this soon

Damn, Serafina is the perfect blend of Tender Prey and Murder Ballads, those verses are getting me

it's such an incredible song. the "burning through Georgia like a moonstruck Sherman" lyric gives me chills every time. and also the whole "people are who they are..." monologue.

this is on the verge of a 4.5 for me now I'd say, and yeah it's starting to topple *Shadow on Everything*, which is one hell of an achievement considering it was my gateway into this band.

I checked out the album before this one since I loved this so much, but this just feels like an improvement on the same sound/formula. Any merit to that or do I need to jam it again?

nah that was just badly written but it was on my phone so I had to do it to em (in that particular manner)

seriously though if you're in a city that gets any love from bands follow the big big 'berta on facebook and make sure to hit that show when they come by

anyways

what's this like
