"I do wish the leads were more at front here at times. They are very beautiful and deserving of the spot."

I didn't feel that lack of greater prominence in the leads you mentioned, but they're indeed interesting. The solo in The Great Seducer is probably the best the band has ever recorded, even though technically it's nothing out of this world.

Back there we talked about the goth dudes Tribulation and you def feel that type of songwriting on the closer. Great stuff.

Tribulation do have a strong influence from Fields of the Nephilim and other classic goth acts

It's solid, but I don't like it as much as most of the guys around here. The Horror is my favorite.

Down Below started as a 3 and I have it 4.5d. Album has infectious riffs and a very classy songwriting. The Horror is very good, but is not what the band came out to be, with their own identity and psychedelic infused.

yeah the debut and demos are completely different from formulas and i assumed the later stuff is in similar vein to that one

weird story actually, a friend who doesnt use this site showed me this band via one of their demos, solid shit

Formulas of Death may be my fave but they still managed to find another path of pure class, abandoning a bit the proggy nature on that one. And I can stop saying this:

CATCH THEM LIVE! THEY ARE AMAZING! The double guitars are a must see, the whole band and vocalist have this intense and amazing stage presence.

The new one is great but I really wish they would drop the melodeath/harmonized leads sections. It's not that they're bad, but they create this really cool grimey/blackened/raw yet gothic atmosphere and then the mood changes and it kind of sucks the air out of the room (for me).

Anyways I dig these guys overall and the new one has a lot of killer moments.

Haven't kept up with them after Near Death Revelations but I've always loved this band. Gotta hear the new one.
