I loved their first two albums but never heard Currents. Would I like this? (I'm gonna listen regardless, just gauging expectations!)

Going in. Interesting that this was recorded in his home studio; suddenly the production time makes a whole lot more sense. If your work patterns are as neurotic and/or depressed as his seem to have been, I'm amazed you'd want to keep things in your own backyard...
And Sowing haha I'm surprised you haven't heard Currents, feels like it could easily have been a staple for you (although if you're browsing now, the singles are conveniently all you need from that one ;])

first 3 or 4 tracks got me feelin a little underwhelmed.
I'm sure listening to this with my good headphones at home will make a huge difference

the headphone necessity argument usually, to me, just means the music isn't all that great haha
we'll see though, I have a soft spot for these guys

Production showcases are allowed to be great sometimes lol - I mean, Magdalene? :O
Thought the whole point of Tame Impala was that it came from an insular place but ended up as perfect socialtimes jams, so calling this a headphone album is pretty ouch

true dat...but you guys suck...all I tried to say was that details come out with close listen, and quality headphones help...that happens with pretty much all music...singles f.e. here are a perfect socialtime...some intimate tunes here require a more detailed listen to take them from blandness...just an obs after a first listen on the car...and a second one on the headphones...maybe that'll change in the future. But guys like to question everything.
