You know, "University Hill" really grew on me on my last listen.

Don’t get offended Doof, it was an underhanded compliment. Esotericism is always more fun/interesting.

But leave Björk out of this!

I think only Lucman got my joke on the first page.

What a shame, it was a good one dammit.

The ending of "University Hill" still irks me to no end... "C'MAAON!"

I've only heard Kaputt and Poison Season and preferred the latter, should I cheq?

This is more along the lines of Kaputt than Poison Season but no two Destroyer albums are the same. Definitely check it out if you enjoyed those two.

It was a good joke @Dewi!

I really enjoyed the singles, have high hopes for this. Hoping it brings back some of the style of Kaputt.

Watch, 11 months later I guarantee this will still be the worst album art of the year

Would've enjoyed this review a lot more if it was just 1 really succinct paragraph, as I feel it would've still gotten its point across. Hey, even just the summary (which is really great) does that. The whole middle section that reads as a track-by-track just feels unnecessary.

It's true, I use that track-by-track format as a crutch way too often. It's in pretty much every review I've written.

But I don't know how to talk about tracks without making it sound like that and NOT talking about particular tracks makes me feel like something's missing.

I'm not a one paragraph kind of guy, to my own detriment. 😔

Also, the album art isn't bad. I kind of like it.

I am too, but I don't say it out loud very often.

Thanks for giving me the strength to say it, brother.

"no two Destroyer albums are the same"

very true, for example, on Kaputt, he uses Oberheim synthesizers to make boring chamber pop, and on this one, he uses Roland synthesizers to make boring chamber pop.
