If you enjoy this, I highly recommend checking out Radiant Dawn by Dan Boeckner's other project Operators. Fantastic synth driven indie album.

Vocals hold this back quite a bit for me. Feels almost gothic, a total mismatch from the music. Either the music needs to be darker or his vocals need to be more melodic and upbeat, not sure which. I did enjoy the instrumental contributions quite a bit - particularly the guitars. They feel unafraid to experiment with sounds which is awesome. This is my first Wolf Parade album so I could be off-base with these assessments, but it's just my first impression. Could probably be as low as a 2.5 or as high as a 3.5 depending on how this grows on/off me.

Sowing - Sunset Rubdown and Moonface are a bit more experimental and often a better fit with Krug's vocals

You realise it's two different singers/song writers here right?

Besides that sometimes talent betrays ambition.

Vocals grow on you

Doof, I swear I'm calling the police on you if you keep insinuating any Sunset Rubdown album is better than Wolf Parade

Sunset Rubdown = Krug's best moments on Wolf Parade albums with the training wheels taken off let's be real

and the other dude's song writing is a bit of a sub-Arcade fire/Springsteen-ian non-event c'mon

I don't understand the Arcade Fire and Modest Mouse comparisons for this band. The similar moments are brief. Is it just because of Isaac Brock's involvement?

I heard more Bowie on their debut. Perhaps it's Arcade Fire channelling Bowie : )

I try to not compare Sunset Rubdown and Moonface to WP but I will agree that Spencer shines more vocally in those projects vs. In WP. It's all so good though

I was pretty sold on this by the end of Julia Take Your Man Home.

@ProjectFreak Really dig that one, with better lyrics it'd probably be my favorite.

@WatchItExplode get a rating on this then, sir

Kind of impressed this jumped into trending albums for a bit, but I know it's probably gonna drop off once it gets updated.

Still, impressed.

To quote Wolf Parade's 2020 album Thin Mind and no other piece of media: "Like tears in rain..."

Settling in on that good ol' Wolf Parade 3.5 average.

The curse remains.
