what i'm basically saying is it isn't like paradise lost using clean vocals in their music, that kind of change is evolving the band's sound in some way. but this type of style which keeps creeping up feels more like a marketing ploy to get people talking rather than a projection of artist expression. and i know that completely goes against what sowing's thoughts are in this review, but that's just the way my cynical ass thinks. :P

-- and it just comes across like it's intentionally juxtaposed like that to get a knee-jerk reaction.--
The same could be said the first time someone heard Cynic go from death metal to chill new age, or Fear Factory going from death metal to clean singing and programmed sounds. I know it's nothing these days, but even Paradise Lost going from death growls to clean singing on the same song was a shock back when they first did it, and it wasn't a normal thing for the genre.
Edit: Am I trying to say bands like this and Babymetal will be seen as ahead of their time and ground breaking in a few decades like the ones I've mentioned above? No... but nobody was saying that about the bands I mentioned back then either. That's why most of them eventually quit. They were gimmicky and ignored.

I don't really think Babymetal, Poppy or other reverse card acts shall be remembered later - maybe just the fact that they were very divisive in their time.
Only Ulver did the "chameleoning" good. Accept it.

just heard the first song and theres no fucking coherency to it. theres a handful of really melodically satisfying moments during it but the aggressive shit is so jarring in comparison while not even being particularly good at being heavy.

So there are some decent tracks here and some of the more experimental and quirky pop shit is pretty cool, but unfortunately a lot of it is shat all over by Rob Zombie/ Asking Alexandria-esque riffs, cringe lyrics, and unbelievably obnoxious rapping.
